Mortality
My mother is reacting well to the chemotherapy, it seems. But now, my father in law has been struck by mild stroke. Coming to the age where my parents' generation are falling ill one after another.
Mortality - something that is still rather distant to me, but which my parents' generation is coming to face. My mother is only 61 this year. She has only retired for less than a year. My father in law has all along been fit and healthy, even though he has high blood pressure and occasional bouts of dizziness. The thing that's hard to accept is that it can be so abrupt, without any obvious signs or warning signals.
When it hits, everything becomes so simple, so basic, yet difficult - the fight for one's life, to resume leading life normally, all for the taste of cherry. Take a moment to cry, but after that it's time to be strong, there's no time and it's not worth the effort to think too much. Just focus on survival, on getting life back on track or at least to enjoy whatever time one has left.
Well, it's always easy for me to say!
